
Security Guard Training – September 23 & 24, 2025 (Class #5)

September 23, 2025 (Tuesday) & September 24, 2025 (Wednesday) – 4pm to 10pm (Class #5)
Cost – $225 for the Security Guard Training Class or Two Training Tickets for $399 (Bring A Friend Deal).
Assistance with Job Placement & Application Benefits – Livescan fingerprints and passport photos completed onsite. Assistance with job placement with SafeWatch Security or other partnering security companies around the DMV AND assistance with online application to become a Maryland unarmed security guard. Complimentary snacks and drinks provided during the class.
Mandated by the State of Maryland, this comprehensive 12-hour program fulfills the learning objectives necessary for initial security guard certification. Learn essential knowledge and skills and the latest industry standards and regulations. Topics include conflict resolution and avoidance, laws affecting security guards, how security certification and renewals are administered, and navigating special situations.
Qualifications Security Guard Certification
- be at least 18 years old
- meet the standards set by the Secretary of State Police
- be an employee of or an applicant for employment with a licensed security guard agency or a security guard employer
- be of good moral character and reputation
- has not been convicted of a disqualifying crime, (any felony)
- has not been convicted of a crime of violence, (either misdemeanor or felony)
- has not been convicted of a crime that involves a controlled dangerous substance
- if currently or formerly employed as a police officer, the individual has had any formal findings by a court, hearing board, or other governmental entity of unlawful or excessive use of force or of making a false statement during the individual’s employment with the law enforcement agency
- has satisfactorily completed 12 hours of initial security training that is approved by the Maryland Police Training and Standards Commission or has been employed as a police officer in the 3 years immediately preceding the application
Individuals who are not current employees of or a current applicant for employment with a licensed security guard agency or a security guard employer are not eligible to apply for a State of Maryland Security Guard Certification.
